helping hands v/s praying lips

"THERE IS A HOLIER MUSIC IN SILENT SERVICE OF THE NEEDY THAN IN ALL THE GORGEOUS CHANTING OF PRAYERS"
I have nothing against chanting (let me make this clear before i have priests or chant-lovers flare at me!!) :)
It's always the helping hand that is holier than the praying lips... Just Chanting or wishes or prayers wouldn't do any good and cannot trade places with the helping hand! If chanting lips join the helping hand---Nothing like it!!!!
This, said by Gandhiji, is truly worth an applause.. "It's better in prayer to have a heart without words than to have words without a heart" ... It's indeed wonderful if words had the harmony of an infallible heart... :)
But just to say it without a heart to do the deed or even worse without having meant it is a real disaster!! Though it's a good gesture to wish or pray for someone, i have always believed a little kind deed always undoubtedly transcends the words.. it's by deeds that there's a healing and not just by words......
I have always loathed the people who just have sympathy (even wonder if at all it was true that they really felt it)..... "Ohh sooo sad!!!" "I feel so sorry for you"- it's too much of an irritation for me!!!
I always wonder "why feign" "why say something just for the sake of it"...

There's a bliss in giving.... I've utterly butterly felt this..... so much joy in just seeing a smile on someone's face...
Tiny things like bringing a glass of water to the elderly man in a hotel and to see a thanks manifesting as a smile on his face.... Giving without expecting anything in return is such a pleasure.. :) Giving as the Rose gives perfume, because it is its own nature, utterly unconscious of giving........ To give for the joy of giving without expecting gratitude....

Today there was a blissful shower from the heavens :) it rained and rained... my neighbor kids had just returned from the sameness of school.. there was a flicker of tiredness masked by playfulness.. A lot to learn from kids.. :) how to be tired and still be ready to pounce on a butterfly that had done a mistake of falling in sight of the kids!!! ;)
Their white uniform tried its best to hide the water it had caught from the showers, but the "aaya naya Ujaala" had swindled the uniform.. may be it wasn't "chaar boondhonwaala"... ;) Dripping with water they'd come at the door and found their door locked... they knocked at my door and asked "Anna...."... i said "No Anna ma... inna maaa"...... they then corrected themselves & the little girl asked "Akka key kuthtirkiraanglaaa...?"
I looked for the key if their mamma had left the key with us before leaving... Much to their disappointment, i didn't find the key..
The rain continued to bathe all the dirty things and creatures on earth...
I called the kids in, whose backs don't wear out even with a heavy load of knowledge they carry down the heads ;) all knowledge in the bags!!! Least are the children of now-a-days taught 'Knowledge is piling up facts..Wisdom is simplifying it".... Piling up books is also a home work!! ;)

Coming back to the kids all wet who still stood out, after my calling...... "ULLe vaa maguu..." they finally came in.. only the ground would love their shoes!!! i helped them unload their bags from their backs... went inside and brought my towel...
the kids just sat like they didn't know what to do with the towel.. whether to take it, run down and play for somemore time :)
I didn't wait to think.. started wiping their heads.... they peeped from within the towel to see what i was doing :)Then i went inside the kitchen to fetch the kids with Hot hot cup of bournvita.. "subah shaam bournvita"...... In a moment they'd gulped and were watching Lyndal's Lifeline: Chimps under fire..which i'd tuned in on my favorite Animal Planet...
I had stopped seeing Animal Planet for a moment.. Something else had caught my eyes.... :) The kids..... They had sunk in delightment...!! To see them relish bournvita and be content with what was around was a feast to my eyes..!!

I sit and wonder How one of the other neighbors just below the kids' home could have shut the door on the kids after having said the key wasn't with them.........!!!!!
How could only saying this "Ohhhh illlama key ille.. maley vere varadheee... illamaa key...." make them shut the door on the kids!!!!!! How holy were their praying lips....!! I wonder if they prayed to RainGod to stop showering!!!!!!!
God bless them!!

"What we have is a gift from Him...What we do with what we have is our gift to Him"

I finally remember some wonderful lines by William Arthur Ward

I will do more than care - I will help
I will do more than believe - I will practise
I will do more than be fair - I will be kind
I will do more than forgive - I will forget
I will do more than dream - I will work
I will do more than teach - I will inspire
I will do more than give - I will serve
I will do more than be friendly - I will be a friend
I will do more than be a citizen - I will be a patriot
